Why it matters
A fat man rides a barrel in a pool while others push him or pour from it: a condemnation of gluttony. It was the lower left wing of a triptych that also included The Ship of Fools and Death and the Miser.
Did you know?
- It dates from around 1490–1500.
- The Ship of Fools formed the upper part of the same wing.
- The central panel, if it existed, is unknown.
