Why it matters

The Magi bring their gifts to the Christ Child in an early work by Correggio. When the Brera acquired it in 1895 it was attributed to Scarsellino.

  • It came from the collection of Cardinal Cesare Monti.
  • It was only recognised as a Correggio in the 19th century.
