Why it matters
The Holy Trinity (the crucified Christ, God the Father and the dove of the Holy Spirit) appears in a mandorla of seraphim, with Mary Magdalene praying and John the Baptist. It was made for a Florentine convent housing former prostitutes, whose patron was the Magdalene.
